Default Acewell Speedo / Tacho

Guys,

I have an 06 450FSE with the Acewell Speedo. It appears to be dead. It has power live to it but nothing is working. I assume therefore that it's dead?

I rang my dealer who is pretty good and he advised me to replace it with a TrailTech as they are more robust and reliable. I expect they are cheaper too but we didn't get into prices. However if I do that I have a lot of hassle sorting out wiring. So I'm interested to hear opinions of the Acewell. Is it another poor GasGas speedo or is it normally reliable and I was just unlucky?

They had problems with that speedo including the 07 model Acewell.

I must admit I have 113hrs on my machine and the speedo still works fine except for the fuel light flashes sometimes when it shouldn't..

I was advised to upgrade to the TrailTech Vapor as it's more robust. It's not as nice in display and function but if it can handle the abuse that'll do for me.

Replace the regulator and the battery. Check the voltage output after they have been replaced.... I did a regulator not long ago... It was overcharging to 18volts ..

I must have caught it in time because the battery is still ok.. (Now that I've said that I bet it dies)

Mine did. Pulled the seat off out on the ST and it was red hot. Replaced the battery and tested the input voltage. Time for a new regulator
