I do not really know. On my '06 EC200, I used the same expansion chamber and silencer both before and after the transformation kit was installed. I have a FMF Gnarly and OEM silencer, both made to fit the '06.

As the expansion chamber is / should be tuned to the porting of your motor, it may or may not be a good idea to use a '11 chamber on a '97 motor.

If you don't need to replace the exhaust for other reasons, my suggestion is to try to mount what you have, and see how it can be made to fit.

Cheers for the reply, like you said about the expansion pipe I would need one for the year engine I have, unfortunately my exhaust has some big dents in it, I'm going to go for the 1997 expansion pipe and 2011 silencer.

On "my" bike I tried fitting a 2011 silencer with the oe 2000 Gnarly and it wouldn't fit with out modifying it. The angles were off for mounting. So in the end, I just modified my stock Turbine core silencer to fit. BTW, I was going for a perfect fit with space for a 140 rear tire.

I think you will either need both early pipe and muffler then make mount for front muffler mount or late model pipe and muffler as the pipe size is different i think

Cheers for all the advice, I think the easiest thing to do is fit a new 1997 exhaust and Silencer and modify the Silencer mounts, sounds like the easiest way, I was planning on getting a new 97 exhaust and 2011 Silencer but that sounds like it's going to be Hassle.

I was able to fix some of the pipe to silencer alignment issues by heating the silencer inlet pipe and changing the angle so the mounts line up. I also had to trim the length of the expansion chamber head pipe where it connects with the silencer. This worked for putting a 2007 pipe on older bikes.
