2019 EC300 mods
First of all I am loving the EC. Getting off a WR450 I feel like I am a better rider on the Gasgas.
Question. What modifications and accessories do you recommend on the EC for Enduro and XC racing. Also where do you get these items. |

PS: Looking at my '19 fitted with "guards", obviously the guard is going to absorb some of the impact from the side(obviously not as much as a "brace").......Anders, did you have "guards" on your bike? |

It's all personal preference. You don't need to run radiator protection.. You can repair or replace radiators if they get damaged.
They simply offer some structural protection and support to the radiator. Different brands (AXP, P-Tech, Force, etc) offer different setups. Mostly you want the side protection to stop the bananaring as seen above. I like some protection across the front too (more than just plastic louvers). Same goes for the pipe. Personal choice. A big enough impact will still break things, even with protection. The force needs to go somewhere. I'd rather dissipate what I can though. Depending where you ride I'd probably factor in a 50/52 tooth rear sprocket as well! |

By guards, do you mean the plastic shrouds? They offer next to no support when you throw 100kg against an immobile object with the point of force being the edge of a radiator.

Hey rodent, I am also in Sunbury!
Radiator braces are a good investment if you are doing difficult tracks and you fall over every now and then. Prevents busting a radiator out in the bush, coolant then drains out and you can't ride home otherwise you'll cook your engine. But if you don't ride rocky, tight tracks then don't bother. I had them on my old bike and have some being shipped for my Gasser. But I reckon I'll need to buy new Chinese knock-off radiators as mine are currently both bent in quite far from previous owner. |
