Default 2011 300E interesting pics

A couple pics I took of things you might be interested in seeing if you haven't updated your Gas Gas for a while. The evolution continues and yes the factory is listening. I took these today while working to further set up my 2011 300E.

New and improved coil mounting much more rigid and protected, not sure heard grumblings it may interfere with adding aftermarket larger tank.

Air filter changes a little less roomy with the E start but still very doable.

They really have went to great lengths to try and lighten things up recently. This new frame design has signs of it all over. Here is one instance I found that is pretty substantial. It may also contribute to chassis feel. They really shrunk the euro steering lock mechanism down also.

Threaded brass inserts in gas tank

Looks like the brake line will still rub the cases, mine had a deep gouge in the cases from that. In fact I found numerous spots all over the bike where destructivce rubbing was taking place. Does the battery swing out of the way?

You cant see it in the picture but the forward brake hose loom has a relief in it to accept a zap strap so you can preload the hose away from the cases.

Frame looks much better, that cast piece looks very KTMish. I'm Still not a electric start two stroke fan, and the battery looks big and heavy, maybe overkill. The orange bikes are using a smaller one, YTX4. Glad to see the tank inserts too. Great pictures!

Probably why the GG starter still works after 5 starts .

Just so you know the brake master cylinder is not tightened down and the shock has been removed so its not really sitting how it would be normally. I will check into if it rubs. My 08 didn't but I like to run my chain long to gain some straight line stability by making the wheel base a little longer.

Yes the battery is just sitting there on a rubber mat that is also removable from the tray. The seat recess is what keeps the battery in the tray. I could not feel the recess through the seat foam now. Not sure but that could change as the foam breaks down some. I really don't hit the seat to much though so probably not a bother for me anyhow.

pj7 Yep the battery is a hog and I will be replacing it with a Shorai. You can drop 4.1LBS just by doing this swap. Cost is from 100$. and improves cranking amps etc.
I read Gas Gas claims the e start adds 7.7LBS so if you can get the system down to under 5LBS by swapping out the battery it isn't such a penalty and is nice to have in some situations.
