Default FMF silencer wool replacement, how much to pack in ?

Bike is EC 300 '14 and needs the wool replacement in the stock FMF silencer. I can't tell because i'm a noob but an "expert" rode the bike and said it definitely needs the packing changed (bike runs well, but the sound is not "in the right department").

I have found a few dealers who are able to ship the FMF wool, however i don't know how much to buy.

One FMF kit is 400 grams (14.1 ounces), is that enough ? Or is it too much, because they don't specify for witch silencers the kit is.

So how much to order/pack in ?

Do i strictly need to buy the FMF brand, or can i go cheaper ? The price difference is relatively big, 6$ to 30$ for the FMF kit. However 30$ is not that much, i'm tight right now but i'll buy it if it's strictly necessary.

p.s. by "expert" i mean somebody i know who races for +15 years
p.s.s. bought the bike at 64 hours on the clock, and i strongly believe that the previous owner didn't changed the packing at all during this time
p.s.s.s. i need to order today, to be able to change it before the weekend

One package will be enough to repack the silencer

I repacked my muffler with one bag of the fmf stuff. I felt like it needed more but it works just fine. I'm sure you can use any brand of packing.

I repacked my '13 Q silencer and used 2 sheets of the Moose packing. 1 was not enough.

Just make sure you do not pack your silencer packing too tight. Too much packing is not necessarily a good thing.

And you are telling me this now ?

Just packed it last night, i think i squeezed in around 350-400 grams. The bike runs well, can't tell if it sounds right this time because it sounds the same to me as before. I'll have to ask somebody with experience to tell me.

Thanks for the info tough, will be careful in the future.
