Default museum piece 1998 EC250 needs bottom end

so the time has come to completely rebuild my bottom end, does anyone have any input on rebuilding the counterbalanced engine?

motopsycho in the uk listed the parts needed bearings/seals etc but his was a newer engine so no balancer shaft

im looking to put a cr250 conrod kit in it as i already bought a wiseco cr250 forged piston and have had the cylinder re-chromed

theres no wonder gasgas are not popular bikes the spares prices are nothing short of ridiculous and this is not the full crankcase of bearing and seals that i requested.

"Hello
i want some prices for some parts for a 1998 gasgas ec 250

full engine gasket set........... ?64.24 +VAT
waterpump bearing & seal.......... ?14.04 +VAT
kickstarter spring and ratchet........ ?17.41 +VAT
crank bearings..... ?22.92 EA +VAT
crank seals...... ?32.12 for pair +vat"

total daylight robbery and lets face it I trust japanese quality 1000% more than spanish

check this place out for parts. http://www.motocrosscenter.com/ecomm...67&language=en

Almost all bearings and seals are commonly available industrial parts. Take it apart and read or measure the numbers of the existing parts and buy them from a bearing supply store or you can find them on Ebay for other Japanese bikes or KTM bikes. You will save lots of money that way.

+1 to that!
It takes a bit more involvement and time that way, but a good idea all around.
