You may have mistaken the rear-of-saddle air intakes for handholds - be careful, as there is only your butt and a single little screw holding the seat down

A better spot to lift is underneath the exhaust can - by the fender above it leads to knuckle/silencer interference, and we all know who will win that one.

Congrats on the new bike!

Yes the battery should get charged up for a fair test of the system. Engagement will be slow if it can't spin up quickly. It was 40*F when I tried it although the bike was sitting in a 50*F warehouse (which most of you would think is cold). Lighter grease may be in order.

Oops, those air intakes are narrow! Good thing I didn't try and lift it that way. I did grab the muffler to put it up on the stand.

I started making up some parts to eliminate the auto retract on the sidestand. This bike will be a good tinkering project over the winter.

That's the simple method. The spring eye on the current cast mounts sticks out farther and partially blocks the spring path. I want something tucked in closer to the frame, so I'm making a small stainless bracket. I'll start a new thread with pictures when it's done.

The sidestand spring modification turned out to be a bit more effort than I expected. I added a post to the official sidestand thread.
