Springrates on MC compared to EC
I found some numbers on my rear springs.
The 2005 EC 250 (now 300) had a yellow spring with the number 10/25 L434 The 2004 MC 250 had the number 11/54 L243 I like the realative stifness of the MC. Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean ?

I think I remember something in the archives on this topic which leads me to believe the mc is a 5.5 kg per mm. Based using the 54 from the serial # and adding one integer

That sounds right...
I believe the # after the "/" is the spring rate in Nm - to convert to kg*mm you divide by 9.8. My guess is that you misread the first part number and it is "52" rather than "25". So the MC spring rate is 54 Nm and the EC is 52Nm (guess). Respectively, this converts to 5.5 kg and 5.3 kg. jeff |

Good catch Jeffd
Do you have any insight into what springs might be up front on my EC???
I am hoping to go one step stiffer on all my springs for the EC to make it handle like the MC. Is there a baseline "stock" set-up for the EC suspension, or is it just a pot pouree ??

Are the pullrods the same length on both bikes? I would think different lengths would affect the inital travel stiffness too?

The stock pullrod length is 122mm on both bikes. If aftermarket LTR pullrods have been installed on either bike - they are most likely 124mm and this would soften the action.

Pullrods ???
The 2005 EC is (supposedly) bone stock from the dealership as far as suspension goes.
I just bought the MC, and it was pretty stock when I got it. Didnt even have the LTR PV cover. I think its just springs. I have seen the LTR rear shock linkages, but never gave them a second look.
