Default Handguards don't fit into twinwall bar ends???

Got my new 2014 xc300. Went to fit my zeta 1 1/8th wrap around hand guards and the adapters that go into the bar ends don't fit. I tried to Drexel them out with no luck (yet).

Hate to have to buy new handguards. So I got 2 options (that I see).

1) are there adapters that fit into the twinwall bar ends?
2) it is cheaper to just buy new bars. But what is the stock bend?

Can I just get some pro tapers from the local mx store?

Need help fast. Have ride this weekend.

Also can I rmove the crossbar from the stock handlebars without any detremental effect?

I would just drill it out. There practically no load at the end of the bars.

This was my exact thought. I took a Drexel to it but my bit is worn and didn't make any progress. Maybe will buy a new bit and try again.

they make different adapters for the end.... buy a tap and tap the end of the bar to the proper thread.... easy....

But you can go buy protapers....

Ya those bars got me also. I bought a cyrca mount kit just for twin bars. They are the expanding kind, but have never came loose and hold well.

That will be my replacement one day if needed.

Can you just hit it with a big drill bit that matches the size of the insert?

Drill and tap to the size bolt you need.

I don't know enough to give advice on availability of adapters or mounts, but I'll speak up on the other.

Older model stock GG bend was traditionally ('99 through'06) been close to the "CR Mid bend". Not sure about the 2014.

I prefer a fat bar (no crossbar) that are more narrow and higher bars with the same basic bend/wrist position.
Of what I've seen for sale, my preference are the Burleson bend or XC bend Moose Racing fat bar. They are tall. They still come in a 30.5" width. They are bent in such a way that leaves plenty of room for my controls to be mounted properly.

You can drill your's out, but don't remove the crossbar.

Pro Tapers are all 32" or so now, even the Woods High Bend.
