Not true. The earlier stators did not have the black and orange wires for the ignition map switch on them. I believe the later stators are OK to use on the earlier bikes but you lose this functionality if you use earlier units on the new bikes.

Bill,

Please explain this. I'm not saying your wrong but this is news to me. What does the stator have to do with the map select function of the CDI? I have to look at the drawings and my bike I guess.

Alright Cladoo I finaly got my bike home and the stator has 4 wires going to it. How many do you have?

r/b female & r/wht in a duplex connector


3k same as above but with extra wht alternator output wire

The cable end that plugs into the CDI from the stator is missing the 2 leads for the map switch on the early units.

Looking at the connector you could wire the map switch in if you modified the connector. It wouldn't be the easiest thing to do.
