Default I am lost...

I am new to this.
I have a 06 ec 300 in the uk.
The only diagrams I can find are unreadable.
So can some one please explain what is what.
Is some of the system is AC? Some is DC? On all systems? I am yet to get the multi meter out on it as I have to keep the bike at my mums so tinker time is limited.

I am technical bloke I did electronics at uni ( a very long time ago)

Does any one have a decent diagram?

evilJim,

There is no DC system, just AC that is "clipped" by the regulator (back to back zener diodes)between the yellow wire and gnd, to limit the RMS voltage. What are you trying to do? Be more specific and we can help.

Thanks for the pic better that on the PDFs.
I just want to understand.
But my iPhone is due for replacment soon, so hoping work will let me keep it and I can use is as a GPS on my bike. But i would need to power it.

So I take it the rectifier smooths the power out a bit too, does it clip it too?

I believe the rec/reg converts the AC signal to a DC signal, as well as, regulates voltage...which is what you'll need to power your phone, I'll assume w/car adapter.

Jim - your bike doesn't have a standard gas gas lighting loom, it is an aftermarket (Pro-Racing) one, although made from Leonelli parts like the GG one and broadly similar. The difference is that it is entirely seperate from the ignition wiring, so that the lighting equipment can be easily removed. The lighting is regulated AC (regulator is little black box mounted on the frame by the coil) , but there is a half wave rectifier (little black box on the headlight) that provides DC for the horn and trailtech.
