Default 1998 EC250 Carb Issue

Hey, getting my old '98 EC250 back on the trail and am having a carb issue.

Since the bike had been sitting up for several years, I completely disassembled the carb, cleaned everything, and reassembled.

Problem: Fuel is leaking out of what I guess is an overflow tube. Constant drip, if not steady stream when the bike is running.

Anyone know what would cause this?

Also, does anyone know where I might find a replacement carburetor if I decide to go that route?

Thanks for your help!

Your float needs adjusting, or the float needle is bad.

Carbs can be found on eBay.

Float valves do need replacement from time to time.

Fix the carb you have unless it's corroded beyond repair. Good luck!

It might be the float but out of the 10 GG bikes we have (including two 1998s) we have never needed to replace the floats. My guess is that the needle from the needle and seat needs to be replaced and you can clean up the seat mating surface with a Q-tip and toothpaste chucked up in a drill.

Pretty sure it will be the float valve that is not closing/sealing properly.

Remove it and check the rubber tip, also inspect the seat that it seals into.

The float valve isn't expensive to replace.

All the best, Dave.

Only thing that stopped my mates 2010 leaking. Cotton bud trick not withstanding. Any PWK valve from a 125 + KX or CR will work.
