Threaded hole on swingarm?

On my 12 XC300R, on the sprocket side of the bike, I have a threaded hole on the the top, just above the chain buffer guide. WTF?

Should something be in it? Screw? Silicone?

Will be for the chain guard that the road registered bikes come with, just blank it off.

I use that hole to store an extra bolt for, say, a side panel.
