Congrats on a great bike and welcome! I own the same model and year.

I agree with you. The 08 grab point is not very good. The previous generation design was excellent ( 06 and back ) I have actually broke my seat base in the middle from pulling up on it when stuck. A drill and some heavy gage wire mended it back together and made it surprisingly stout. Now I can pull up on it as long as I have a hold of the sub frame too.

When its clean, under the fender works fine. When muddy, as it is more often than not, its not so good. Now your throttle hand is all mudded up.

The tugger works for getting unstuck great, but I found it's a little high when mounted to use to get your bike on stand. You can do it but it seems more difficult than the under the fender technique.

Have fun on the new ride.

Roscoe

Default Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the advice. It is fun having a new bike that is different that what I am used to. Going to pop out to Gas Gas Pacific to learn more this afternoon. Would rather be riding today but stuck in the office as have to catch up on some work...

Default Went for a ride with Aflica & friends

Last Sunday I hooked up with Aflica and his riding buddies - had a terrific time! They were kind enough to show me the sights and diverse terrain of the Malahat, of which several trails they laid out. Several "hail mary's" and "how'd he do that?" were said by me. Great crew & great riding. Hope to do it again soon.

Hey Dg , it was a great ride on Sunday , tho im a bit confused on when you had time to , and i quote , say "Several "hail mary's" and "how'd he do that?" were said by me" cause every time i turned around you were right on our heels. And to make a great day even better , The Gassers were first up any of the big hills and some times , they were the only ones up them !! Gotta love that ! Cant wait till next time , cause now you know the trails and that scares me

Default Ha!

Oh, there was several times alright.

The one climb past the bottom of Fat Bar Hill I did not think was going to end. That big root shelf right at the beginning completely gassed me followed by the ten inch rut filled with roots and rock pushed me hard.

I shook my head watching several of you climb rock faces beside either a lake or a cliff. I was wanting a paper bag to settle down a rising panic attack.

Thumbs up Well, it was fun while it lasted...

Gave a great buddy a great deal today on a wicked bike. He bought my 1981 CR80 back in 1983...we used to ride together as kids. Now he's moving to Mill Bay and we'll be riding together again!

I've got the 08 300 as well. Rode my buddy's new KTM450 around my 5 mile loop here and was impressed but got back on my Gasser and rode the same loop and was more impressed. Both great bikes, but the Gasser is a better bike for me. Love it.

That is a beautiful bike! Has LTR suspenders and Fastway pegs, Cycra Center reaches, Meca skid plate, and some other very high quality neccessities that I just can't see atm. This would be my dream bike. It looks brand spanking new. How could U let it go so fast? Was the Berg that upset? I know the guy is your long lost bud and all, but jeez!
Oh I got it! You've decided to purchase the 2010 ec300! Smart move. Btw, I like your FJ40. I have a '71.
Oh crap! I just went back in time and read Kurdt's post on the 2010 Nambotin ec300, and U actually did order one! U guys are gonna be turning heads on those bikes, including the '08. Congrats! This has gotta help GG sales with 3 or 4 of U, all riding Gasgases together.

Yes, it's a beauty. Bought it last November from "101 racing" - it was dialed in and barely ridden. If he ever sells something again, it is definately worth a look.

Had to sell it to my buddy. He'd sit on it and make revvy noises everytime he came down for a visit. So I took the grenade and ante'd up for a new one. Beats having him on a Honda...or worse.

The cruiser is an '81. Bought it off the original owner in July 1994 - lots of memories!
