I agree, why would GasGas enter the Dakar with a bike produced and developed by the opposition. GasGas should not waste money on false advertising or negative publicity but rather produce adverts for counties were the GasGas is been introduced and struggling against the big orange competition. GasGas is under exposed and underrated and it?s not a good idea to put your stickers on the wining manufacture and call it a GasGas.

Totally agree, this will give a wrong image of GG...will place GG at the same level as of some Chinese brands...

I think the reason is because they had to do this on a 450 4T and the factory has not produced these yet. If I remember correctly, the 450 with the Yamaha motor wasn't scheduled to be produced until February and that was before the production delays on the 2ts arose, so it may now be much later than that before the bikes get produced. Not defending their decision, just giving what I think are their reasons.

Is the real GasGas Rally bike not a 450? This is so strange.

The bike they are using is a Yamaha 450 4t. Gas Gas is planning to use a Yamaha engine in the Gas Gas frame as a production bike. I think that, since Gas Gas had not produced a Gas Gas framed, Yamaha engined 450, they decided to buy production Yamahas to use as rally bikes. In other words, no Gas Gas 450s produced so buy something that has the same engine that they will use later. Maybe it was also an opportunity to test the engine? Doesn't seem like money well spent to me but I don't know the whole story.

I don't get it either. Four years in a row Austrailian Dirt Action magazine says that if you want to race a 450 right out of the crate, go with a Gas Gas, the '08, '09, '10 and I heard 2011 as well. Now they have to buy a Yamaha? Are the results tables just calling them Yanaha's? I haven't been able to find a Gas Gas in the results at all and find find LuLu Puy in the race with an internet search.
