Senior Mechanical Engineering project... That brings back memories from nearly 30 years ago when I was in Engineering school.

Depending on how much effort you want to put into your project here are my thoughts...

Traction control system (speed sensor on front wheel and rear wheel). Use the differential speed as feedback to modulate power delivery. The simplest control would probably be to retard engine spark to reduce excessive wheel spin.

Develop effective solutions to reduce noise. This would involve designing and testing various solutions. Measure sound pressure/power for a hard measure. You could also get into measuring the perceived sound quality with a group of people not into motorcycles. Does it sound more pleasant to the observer.

These types of projects will more likely connect with your professor and class in that they would make motorcycles more environmentally friendly while providing a rider benefit. Projects are viewed more favorably (better grade) when the benefits of the project are more compelling to a wide range of people.
