What kind of Fuel do you use?
Curious about what kind of Gas everybody uses in their Gassers?
I just rebuilt my 04 DE200 and Saturday will be the first time I crank it and I have to get some gas and was thinking about using Sonoco 110 and Aamco Premium at a 50/50 mixture with Torco GP7 at 50:1 or should I break it in on just the Aamco Premium at 50:1? |

Everyone has their favorite magic potions, but I have always ran my bikes with Sunoco 94 octane with a 40:1 premix ratio. I'm sure many will be chiming in, but I don't believe in using race gas unless you have modified the piston compression very high. The stock engine (even with RB Design squish band mod) should be able to run on pump gas just fine.
EDIT: it may also depend on your region's gas supply. Our pump gas here runs good in my bike. Some other places (perhaps as Gasgasman mentions) could be total crap.

I run 110 octane race gas straight at a 32:1 mix.
My bike was pinging on the pump swill. On my 2001 SE250, I ran race gas also. The power valves always looked clean when I did a top end on the bike. |

I've run lots of different gas in my bikes. I've used the good ole PeMex in Mexico with absolutely no pinging or problems. In Costa Rica, Gas is muy expensiv compared to the U.S., and I've run the inconsistent gas there with no problem. I have had occasional pinging, but I narrowed that one down to the gas from the store on the road to Puntereanes. It's a coastal town, and I think they have leaky underground tanks.
In the U.S. I usually run Shell, or 76 premium, and up 'till very recently I've run Mobile 1 2t oil at 36:1 with ultra crisp LTR jetting (45 pilot, 178 main, LTR needle in the second clip from the top). No spooge, no smoke, just crisp, instant throttle response.

Gulf or Mobil premium, with VP red mixed @ 50/50 in early spring and late fall when the ethanol levels go up. The '07 runs fine on straight pump premium in summer, mucho power and no pinging.
One gas that did not run as well was Lukoil. My VRod, which is somewhat picky about its fuel diet, runs like crap on this as well. |
