Default Hey guys, tell me about the 2000 EC200

I have a chance to get a 2000 EC200 that needs some work. Basically the guy says it is a complete bike (missing a little plastic) that just needs pistons/rings and a cylinder bore. The person who has it got it from their local shop and just has too many other rebuild projects. He is a Trials GasGas rider. He says the engine is a 9/10 other than cylinder, plastic is 7/10, stock bars, hand guards, overall solid bike. Missing rear fender, front plate airbox cover. He says he and the mechanics at the local shop think the only issue is the piston/gaskets/cylinder bore.

I love my 99 EC300 and want another bike and need one for my buddy to ride. At $400 I really couldn't pass it up. So I put a $50 deposit on it. Before I go through with the rest of the payment though can some of my GG family educate me on this bike a bit and if you guys think it will be a good purchase as a woods bike for my buddy (and me too) to ride.

Thanks so much, everyone.

That is what I was thinking. He said the cylinder may could be cleaned(hopefully) and the gaskets and pistons have to be replaced but he and the shop he got it from's mechanics think that is the only issues. It does need a rear fender, airbox cover and front plate, has no kickstand or lighting but otherwise he said bike is very soid. Said the engine (other than piston) is a solid 9/10 and the plastics (what is there) is a 7/10. Has handguards, original handlebars all in good shape.

Sounds to me like a no brainer but soem reassurance wouldn't hurt me any. =)

I have a yellow rear fender from my 99 EC300 (which now has light red plastic). It may fit. And I have a front black plate but I wold like a healdight to be honest. What do you think guys? It looks stripped down but he says it is complete other than some of the plastic.

I've emailed the seller for the VIN. I've put down a 50.00 deposit but that is based on the fact it is a 2000.

Even if it's actually a 99' you still wouldn't want it?
