Default 2011 EC250 sixdays- what to know about?

Former owner of an 06 EC300 and currently riding a Honda. My friends wake up at night in a cold sweat because of my riding a Honda so they keep sending me links to GG bikes. Came across a nice 2011 EC250 sixdays. Right off the seller says it has a zoke fork. Everything i read says it has a sachs fork. I have seen pics of the same bike on line with both a black coated fork and chrome coated fork. idk what to think about that. The bike i'm going to see does have a black coated fork just like my old 06 zokes. I have also seen different rear sprockets in pics? Someone give some insight on these items and what else to look for. Otherwise the bike looks like brand new, going to see it tonight. I can confirm from the pics and the seller that its all original as he got it except for he just replaced the rear tire. did this model come with a decent stock set up in regard to final gearing and jetting? any advice is appreciated. thanks

Unless someone changed it. Is a 45 zoke shiver. Which can be problematic to tune. But it can be done. I went to a 48 sachs with ttx cartridges. Are great bikes otherwise. I like 4:1 gearing personally. Jetting not right stock. You will change based on your riding preference.

I also have the 11 300 six days. Like bk says its got the 45 zokes. I ride fairly technical single track with lots of rocks and roots. Initially before doing anything to it, I found it was a bit stiff over that stuff for my liking. I had a shop revalve it and while it made it better, I still felt it wasn't as plush as I like it. I have put the Aircells on the fork and have enjoyed the ride since. As far as gearing, I have left it stock. I have found that riding it in 3rd gear through most everything except the wide open areas, I can plonk along and if I need some speed, give it gas and it goes, very controllable.

Good luck with it!

A little off topic but where did you fit the air cells in have looked and there doesn't seem to be any space behind the headlight

Didn't some of the '10 & '11s come with the Sachs forks? if they are Zokes they'll be 45 Shivers though.... I had an old time GG guy tell me yesterday that Drew Smith can do some magic on the 45 Shivers, also heard Les isn't exactly jumping at the chance to tune the 45s anymore although he did a great job on my '06 45 Shivers

Not sure where the OP is from, but;

Some of the '11s that came to North America came with the 48 zokes w the PFP valve. Pretty good forks IMO. I love em on my '12.

The 45mm Zokes came on just about everything USA. Easy to confirm. Measure the lower tube.
Some early models into the US did have the Sachs forks, also coated lowers at 48mm. Various cap designs out there too.
2011 Race models and Nambos/Cervantes received 48mm CC Zokes. Great forks (on par with TTX equip Sachs). Don't have any coating on lower legs. 22mm PFP adjuster in cap.

Should have the 45mm Zoke if it is a true 6-day bike. I have had great luck with the 45"s contrary to what some people say about them. Hall's cycles in IL can do a pretty good job on the revalve. For me I always run 0 wt oil in them and that seems to help as well. Great bike I sold my buddy a 11 250 6 day and he loves it. Loctite the gas tank bolt if it is still there. Seems to fall off of every Gasser I ride. Congrats!!!

thanks guys. saw the bike last night, does indeed have 45 zokes. Don't know why every spec sheet i find on the web says otherwise. The bike is in amazing condition. Surprised to see so much "dual sport" type items on it, even more than my old 300. front and rear brake light switches, key lock on the steering post, etc. Anyway couldn't get it last night and hope it makes it through the weekend so i can pick it first of the week. Its already been re-sprung for my weight, has a tall soft seat and bar risers in place. ready to ride. fingers crossed
