Default oil sheen on clutch side case, any thoughts?

i was just going to put my new arrow pipe on and noticed this sheen of oil and dirt on the right side of the motor. any suggestions on which of the gaskets it could be coming from?

Stain on the lower part of the PV cover. My guess is that it's spooge working out.

Nothing sheeny about that Trev! Disgraceful!

I'm with cookie. Its got that tell tale spoogy look to it. I'm guessing the lower left hand side of the pv gasket as been dribbling out for some time. That part is a bit tricky to clean with the pipe in place. I'd give it all a good clean up while the pipe is off. Pull the pv cover and inspect the gasket. I'd install a fresh one with a smear of grease on the gasket so that it comes off easily next time you need it to.

Sometimes I feel like I spend more time loving my bike than I do riding it. Hahah! It usually goes around in circles. I do a month of solid riding with no real maintenance, and then when I work every weekend I end up spending my days off through the week doing maintenance and improving (read fixing) everything from the previous sessions!

I spend $220 last night on gaskets. Ohh and a spare shifter, and a fresh set of guards. Oh and a couple little end bearings. Another $140 this morning on a Wossner piston kit. Preppin up! Another 10-20hrs and the 250 will see its new slug!

Did you receive that insert yet?

I'd also check the back side of your old exhaust, maybe a crack in a weld ??

As other have stated p/v gasket.......pipe crack and I'd check for a crack in the exhaust manifold, but due to the location.... gasket.....does that pipe have one of those erg or what ever it is fitting / plug in it?

No I cut the pipe open and ripped the filter out and welded it back together.

I would suspect the base gasket. I have had a similar mess when using a .1mm (brown) gasket without sealant. I now distrust those .1 gaskets even if combined with a thicker one. Having said that, the base gasket would be the hardest one to change out....only to find it was the PV cover!
