Well the day is getting nearer! My first race since injuring my knee in two weeks. It's a very tight Forest race the same one I snapped the lateral ligament in my little finger, a couple of years ago! I'm really excited! The gym work has been going great I will be the fittest I have been in a long time. The only bad point is I appear to have dropped 2 inches off of my waist in a month of training,
Bad? losing 2 inches off of your waist I hear you say. My MX Pants are a little loose!

Any advice guys? for the race not the pants!

Good luck pepperami! At only 48 there's nothing to worry about! Wait until you get my age (57), then maybe you'll slow down and worry a little, maybe not . You only live once.

good luck Pep!

My first race back is on the 10th, it was supposed to be the weekend before last, but my trailer decided that it didn't like one of the tires anymore about halfway to the venue.

Just a little update. Met with the Doc and he wants to try cleaning things up in the knee first to see if that helps with the instability. (found some fragments on the MRI) He wants to hold off on the ACL replacement.

I questioned him on this, but he feels that with these repairs I may gain my stability back.

I have a double header race on the 30th and 31st of March then in for surgery on the 4th April.

Wish me luck!

Martin

Keep us posted. I suffered a knee injury 3 1/2 weeks ago and am told Im lucky im already getting an MRI. Apparently health care providers dont like to pay for them unless injuries are life threatening. My doctor is a joke, was referred by urgent care. Hopefully going to find a good Sports Med orthopedic doc that accepts Anthem. Still not even sure the extent of the damage but x-rays look good and its definitely on the MCL side. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm new to GasGas bikes as just got a 2013 250 EC a little over a month ago. I'm really enjoying it. In May this year I did the same thing as mentioned here in this thread unfortunately. On an easy dirt road section joining between two technical trails I was looking around taking in the scenery at about 50 km/hr and the front started to wash out so instinctively down went the left leg and pop no more ACL. I didn't go down but stopped and gingerly got off to do a little lay down. We were about exactly half way through our ride so I had about 55 kms to go. Strangely it didn't go badly. I have found that straight up and down things are OK. I took a week off of riding because of the pain but have been back at it since then albiet with a fancy $1800 brace. I've worked my way through the very slow Canadian system getting the MRI and surgeon appointments. Just waiting on the surgery date now. Thankfully I can ride just fine although if the bike tips to the left often I just fall over as the lateral strength is just not there. I've become really good at making sure I most always tip to the right. At least I can still ride but hockey and waterskiing have been put on hold (which sucks big time). I absolutely am getting this fixed. I know many just learn to live with it but in my case that isn't the preferred option.
