Talking Will the newer model plastic fit older bikes?

I know of three bikes for sale in my area, a 1999 EC250, a 2006 EC250, and a 2005 EC300. The 99 is in great shape - still has original graphics. It's also more in my price range. It looks a bit dated, but basically looks like the same bike as the newer models ( with the exception of the conventional forks) Will new model plastic bolt up? Other than maybe the forks, is there any disadvantage to the older GG machines? (like maybe weight) Also, I've heard that the conventional Marzochis are really good forks.

I'm just learning about GasGas so help me out! Thanks!!

If I remember correctly the radiator shrouds will but the back end requires the new sub-frame ($$$). There have been previous posts on this subject, do a search and all should be revealed

I did a conversion on my sons '06 EC125. The rear will not fit without a whole new subframe which in all is huge $$$.

BUT, you can get a Polisport rear mudguard, and it looks pretty good IMO.

I have ordered a set of Hyde swingarm protectors, a set of the full cycra handguards in black, and Im manufacturing a front sprocket cover, and she will be complete.

Here are the before and after:

Up to 2006 you can switch out the plastics. 2007 is when the new sub-frame came out so then you would need the sub farme.

So, if I understand you correctly, I can use up to 2006 plastic on a 1999? I thought that there was some change to the frame in 2002. I know when you do a search on parts, it looks like 98 thru 01 is the same - then 02 through 06 - then 07 to current model. But again - I don't have a clue - I'm just trying to learn.

'02 (maybe '01?) and up some of the plastic is different, they used the air filter access on the left side, previous models didn't and it was one large number plate/side panel. My '00 side panels won't interchange with my kids '04 unless I change the air box. Then the big change came in '07.

The 2011 is the latest that will fit. From 2012 on, the complete chassis was changed.

Lot of info here some right some wrong. I can not speak to what plastics fit a 2000 gasser but the 1999 and 2001 are quite different. The shrouds do not interchange unless you also change the tank. Fenders should interchange but changing the side panels (at least on the left side) might require the air box to be replaced as well. Head light will interchange. 2001 to 2006 all should interchange. In 2007 the rear fender changed (because of the sub frame) but the rest stayed the same. 2007,2008, and 2009, were the same. 2010 and 2011 have smaller side panels that can fit the 2007-2009 bikes but the rear half of the airbox has to be replaced (it is rivited together and the part is roughly $40). The 2010-11 shrouds got a sexier shape (more 3 dimentional and harder to keep graphics on) but they probably fit earlier bikes. Sometime after 2009 the headlights became fitted to the front fenders so they need to be switched as a pair.
