Default Oil types/best?

Im unsure weather this is the correct place to be posting, please do move if in the wrong section,

Im fairly new to the gas gas as it been my 2nd bike as ive always had small pitbikes

Im looking to find out what the best oils are out there to use when its time to service the bike ive been told that silkolene engine oil 10w/40w and silkolene 2 stroke is the very best to be using

True?

As much help as poss on that matter would be greatful as id like the bike to last and have a healthy enough engine

Thanks.

Well, here we have an oil thread! Many opinions, but the truth is most are fine. What works best in the trans, provides minimum clutch drag, and is agreed on by most, is a lighweight synthetic, like Shell Rotella 5W40W, Amsoil 0W10W. For premix all modern synthetics are fine. I use Amsoil Dominator.

First Mr. W8TSON where are you from? (might want to add that to your sig) This can have an impact on what you may or may not be able to obtain oil wise. Helps for suggestions.

And lets not forget ATF for the tranny. Lots of people use it with great success. It's approx. 7.5 weight

Motul 800 is widely regarded as the best oil here in NZ, a nz #1 team mechanic always ran this oil, even in the stickers suggested otherwise, as there oil was'nt good enough. better crank life being one of the main points behind this
i dont know how accessable it is overseas though, never seem to see it mentioned on here

Motul 800 is available here. Its an Ester based racing oil, which is best for film strength. The question I have, knowing that Esters rapidly absorb moisture from the atmosphere, is if it is acceptable to store the bike with this oil coating the parts.

All this oil type is very confusing Im about to place an order for some silkolene as i cant find any of the above you guys have stated over here in scotland.

bare in mind ive always had a 4stroke bike and still learning as i go

Needing:

1, Engine oil - Silkolene - Comp 4 SX 10W-40
2, Two stroke - Silkolene - Comp 2 Pre Mix, Im guessing this is 2stroke mix
3, Coolant - Silkolene - Pro Cool

Hopefully get this all orderd up if someone corrects me on the above

Thanks.

Get Putoline - widely available in the UK, even Scotland! Try mail order if no luck at local dealer.
