Hi all.

So I?ve got myself a 2006 300ec and just wondered if there?s anything I should do or look out for? It?s got 750 miles on it and not had a piston yet- so I?m told.

Are many of u from the U.K.? I?m in West Sussex near Gatwick airport myself 😎

They last a billion miles on a piston with good oils and clean filters. However I never trust previous owners so it's worth a look. Sadly 2 stroke cranks don't like sitting, not in use in a damp environment (oh dear), but hey you might be lucky. Either way parts are cheap aftermarket.

I'd hop over to the jetting thread. The craziest thing is the N1EF needle they come with makes the bike blubber, but the right needle transforms the bike into a clean torque monstr that can also rip.

If you pull off the exhaust pipe you can look at the piston through the exhaust port. If the piston is showing considerable wear and carbon below the rings, it is a good indicator that it is time for a new piston.
