Default 2015 starter preventative maintenance

I pulled out the starter (three bolts, and disconnect battery first) and pulled the cover of the drive side as the ktms don't have any grease in the bearing in there, which causes annoying failures. The GG starter looks very similar/the same and it has very little grease as well. You need a 5.5mm socket for the long bolts on the starter, the plate above the coil with tabs on it slides off and fits in the recesses in the cover for refitting

Grease it up boys!

That's the bearing in there



And that's the end it comes off, be careful not to pull the other end off

I've just done the same job to a new style KTM starter. They look identical inside and out !
