09 EC 250 Oil level

I have a 2009 EC 250. First time I drained the tranny only about 350 mL ended up in the pan. Next time I changed the fluid I even tipped the bike on its side with the clutch cover removed. Put 350 mL in the hole and the oil shows at an acceptable level in the sight glass. I then run the bike on the stand through the gears, still at acceptable level in sight glass. 350mL seems lacking. Any suggestions?

Sight glass is for checking what the oil looks like, not as a guide to how much it should have.
The spec is 900ml, but many people use 1qt or 1L bottles, as thats simpler than having 5% full bottles everywhere. 350ml is most definitely too low
