Default Can I assemble my PV incorrectly

I recently stripped, cleaned and replaced the bearings on my PV.

When I reassemled it I realised that the two rods were of different lenghts.

If I have put the wrong rod in the wrong place will this make a difference to how it operates??

Are they both long enough to reach through the bearings ? I don't remember having to make the decision you're faced with.
It was a long time ago that I had mine apart, but I managed to install the flapper wrong.
It sounded funny at idle when I started it. Then, when I twisted the throttle a bit, the piston smacked into the flapper. Everything stopped and coolant was leaking onto the floor. Cleaning the PV got me a new $900 top end.
I don't remember how I got it together that way, but don't you do that. LOL
I think one of my rods may not have been through the flapper, but above or below it ? A big DOH !!!!

Looking at my notes on a nasty, messed up printout of this:
http://www.gasgasrider.org/html/pv_disassembly.html

I have noted that the "Control Rod" #29 is the short one, and the "PV Flapper Pivot Rod" #28 is the long one.

HTH,
Dean
