Smile 2011 EC300 E-Start

We got a 300 electric start yesterday for stock. Can't wait to put it together.

Man, what a good looking bike!
I stared at one for two hours Wed.

I delivered my first 250ES today. I am sure the new owner will be chiming in here before the weekend.

Chiming in is easy, having something to say is more difficult. I rolled the bike in the door, tossed a blanket over it and got back to work. I'm trying to sort out a braking problem on an old Peugot fork truck. If all goes well, I might get to look at the bike on Sunday.

I did a few passes up and down the parking lot on Sunday.

First impressions:
1) Starts easily by kicker, doesn't need the estart
(although it will be handy on wrong side off camber hills)
2) Nice quiet exhaust
3) Compact bike that's easy to move around on
4) Very good fit and finish

Comments:
1) Bendix unit on the estart is finiky
(when it works, the motor barely has to turn to start; when it misses you get the gear tooth howl)
2) The rear handholds are a good idea, but are very narrow
3) A speedo/odo would be nice
4) More engine vibration than I expected, but I'll be too busy dodging trees to be bothered by it

I think this will be a very capable machine once all my personal preference changes have been done.

lucky dog....... i am trying to sell all my old stuff to be ready for a new/newer one also... My 300 is an 01 model, still a great bike... the only time i really notice the engine vibration is when i have rode something esle for a while... esp the wr450 that is soo smooth.. i think i read something about the starter engagement.. will have to do some checking..
cant wait for a ride report...and some pix's

Neil E.

Make sure the battery has a full charge as the batteries are put in bikes with just a minimum charge then the e-start is probably tested 10 times in the 5 minutes prior to crating for testing with no real runtime allowed for the charging system to replenish the battery.
