Default Spring length question

Anyone know the "free length" of an Ohlins OEM 5.4 shock spring?

Also, how much preload can be put on the shock spring before you need another spring? I am thinking it is about 10-12mm but I am not sure.

Looking for some info. Thanks.

Spring length is 270 mm. Set preload to get a race sag of 100-105 mm. Free(static) sag should be 20-40mm.

On my FSE I had 16mm of spring preload(254mm spring length) om my stock 54N spring, that gave me race sag at 135 mm and free sag at 35 mm.

Spring too soft.
My fully dressed weight is 116kg (~250lbs).

I went to a 62N spring. Feels a little too hard when going slow over big rocks and logs, but at high speeds it's better.

Thanks for the response.

So if a 5.4 is 270mm and a 5.2 is 272mm, then can I assume that all Ohlins OEM shock springs are different lengths?

The stock Ohlins springs are typically 270mm. My stock Ohlins 52 N/mm spring measured 270mm.

A 52 N/mm spring is 5.3 KG/mm.

There may be some variation in length due to mfg tolerances.

Ahhhh! So the 5.4 OEM Ohlins spring that I just put on my bike is not a "5.4kg" as I normally know it to be. Probably a 5.5? That whole "N" thing throws me off.

Thanks fellas.
