Default Clutch Basket Rivets

I am having to rebuild my clutch basket due to the rivets broke on the last one. I have heard that you can thread the clutch basket and use bolts instead of the rivets. Can anyone explain in detail how to do this.

What size of bolt do I need?

Hopefully someone knowledgeable will be along but I'd hazard a guess at the same size as the rivets or a tad bigger / stronger.
