Default Rear brake pedal

Hi, brought a ec250 1999 and the rear brake pedal mount had broken at the back. Just replaced the parts and fitted them but the brake pedal touches the engine case. Moves ok but should it be that close.

Thanks

it's suppose to be close, but not touch the clutch cover.
Did you also replace the bushing?
Do you have sideways play in the pedal?

If, Yes to the bushing, and No to the play, your mount "flap" (the eye welded to the frame) could be skewed, I had this happen to my EC in a hard crash that broke both mount and pedal, when replaced the pedal touched the clutch cover, I just bend the "flap" back in place and had no issues since then..

I didn't replace bush as it look visually ok and I'm not sure how it broke in the first place it just looked like it had sheeted off. Do you need th replace the bushing

Is it clearing the engine if you pull the pedal out?

If so, I would replace the Bushing to minimize the side play, you got a spring pulling the pedal up and towards the engine, and if the play is too big the pedal will scrape the cover..

If it does not clear the engine if pulled, the frame mount is bend..

Yeah it clear the engine cover if you pull the brake pedal and the pedal moves freely enough to disengage after uses but it's touching when at rest.

Does anyone have photos of how this should look plus where the spring goes as I have a spring but I can't see where it's meant to attach to the bike.

Thanks
