Default Carb settings

What do you guys recommend for carb settings.

200ec 04 model

Currently has the following, no spooge coming out of exhaust. currently @ Sea level and temps anywhere from 10 deg to 30 deg winter / summer.
Running 50:1 with castrl power 1 racing.
throttle slide 6
main jet 172
pilot 52
needle NBHW 2nd clip.
air screw was 3.5 / 4 turns out.
Float needs to be reset as it is out

Was told that the bike felt good when the power is on, low throttle lacking power.

From what i could see, the reed valves look in good shape as well.

Try going to a 42 or 45 pilot 52 sounds way too rich and its also probably why your airscrew is 4 turns out which is risking it falling out of the carb

Just rechecked the needle, it is actually needle N8HW on 2nd clip. Really difficult to read the engravings.

Also check the spark plug. it had a nkg b8es in it. Manual states NGK br8eg. Plug is a little black.

I can't find any info at all on the N8HW needle. No one seems to have heard of it. Been advised to change to the following setup and start from there.
Main -175, Pilot - 38, Needle - N1EC (second clip from the top)

My '03 ec200 came with a #52 pilot. Way to rich off idle and tons of spooge. Put in a #42 and runs awesome with very little spooge.

#42 pilot
178 main
CCK needle #2 clip
AS out 2 1/4
#7 slide

I ran my 07 200 with the N B/8 H W needle around the 2/3/4 clip positions, a 50 pilot and a 175 main. I have only ever seen that needle appear in 200s.

Never had any issues with it running poorly, maybe not perfectly. It always started, idled, and ran well. Could possible go to a 48 pilot, but I never experienced any rich issues down low with the 50 so just left it. I never had heaps of spooge either, but was running a relatively low flash point oil, ELF 2XT Tech.

In New Zealands very mild conditions, 0-1000m, 5-25 degrees C.

adjust float level first!seems a pretty rich pilot,my 2013 ec200r was stock with a 42p 175 nozh needle slide 6.even that was a tad rich, went to a 40p(pwks 38mm as2 carb which jet a bit leaner).id prob start with a 45.move down until ur airscrew is 1.5 to 2.5 out.get it in this range and the screw will also be more sensitive making it easier to tune.i found dropping 1 jet size = approx. 1 turn on th screw.sounds like u could go 2 sizes down initially?mine usually starts 1st or 2nd kick, needs choke for 20 secs, idles, and doesn't get blubbery so quick when tooling around,th transition onto pipe is smoother, throttle response better.for a little more finetuning u could try a 40:1(slightly leaner)mix.wonder what ur 2004 recommends as mix ratio?later model recommends 50:1(im on 40:1),dont know about th needle and main combo,172 seems borderline lean but th needle may be richer than stock at wot. im nz sea level to 500m 5 to 30 degC.some spooge is no bad thing,if u eliminate it entirely ur prob too lean, too hot and th oils reached its limits or else ur oil has a v low flashpoint.seems odd to me that with such a rich pilot ur not getting some spooge,or plenty of smoke?what size is ur carb?,could be a 36mm,which takes richer?i think, jetting.but that pilot still seems v rich to me.i wouldn't start with a 38p tho, small steps,1 at a time.if u end up several steps leaner it might be wise to bump that main up to a 175/178 as th leaner pilot will also slightly lean mix across th whole rev range.good luck, and there are some 200 settings in th jetting database,if u trawl for a bit,u should get a feel for a needle/jet combo to get u started.firfighters settings look good to me although hes on a different slide/needle

Adjusted the float bowl. Used both methods to set it. When I put a cork and pipe at the bottom and bend the pipe up the full level sits at the seam. Only starts to leak fuel if I hold the carb to about 45deg to left from vertical. The flows out bottom breather pipe. Still don't know if it is right. Will try it once I get the new needle and jets. Agency said I must use n1ec. 175 and 38.

Put a ne1c needle in , 2nd clip. 175 main and 42 pilot. air screw 1.5 turn out. idle screw 3/4 in. Makes no diff if i turn it in any further. Compared to what I had 172 main, pilot 52 and needle NBHW 2nd clip.

bike sounds different now. If i idle and rev the bike, it sounds crisper. i now have a lot more bottom end. Feels like a different motor now. will hopefully test at the weekend. Need to replace throttle cable as it is fraying at the throttle cam causing slow return.
