Anyone else with feedback on the Pirelli xcms? Really like these for all around here in the midwest, but they seem to flat easy. The sidewalls are very flimsy so if you do flat youre screwed, even with zip-ties. Called Pirelli left message with customer service, they havent called back. After searching around decided to try the mt-16 rear, two enduro's later I'm really liking this tires performance.Guess I'll throw on a mt-16 front this off season and try it out. I seem to remember Scott Summers running those back when,if they held up to xr600 tonnage slamming the roots and rocks, should be alright.
Would be nice to find a pirelli with performance that matches the xcms but with a stiffer sidewall or carcass.

From what I'm told they are made light and just need to be run at a higher pressure for stability. I've been running a front XCMS Tubliss @ 12PSI for awhile now with no issues. I have a rear XCMS with three sand races on it and I like it. MT16 is a good tire, actually can be used anywhere and is a better choice than the XCMS as an all around tire. Awesome Tubliss in mud @ 7 PSI. Sidewalls will break down with extended use at this pressure, but when its nasty this is a good setup.

i love the xcms and have been running it for a while, dont buy the xcmh as i found a huge difference and thought it wasnt near the tire. i ride a ton of diverse terrain from soft dirt, tons of rocks and hard pack single track with lots of logs and i love the ms version. my buddy thought it didnt wear well but i dont care. id rather have a great tire for a little less time. i run mine at 12psi as well

Thumbs up Opinions...

Hey guys just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth..I have been running the v-rubber trials tires (and knobbys) both for 3 years now and have had super wear, service and performance...I run the DOT knobs on my 450FSR for dual sporting and get an avg of 2k miles before they really start to slip...
Check them out plus they are affordable

I've been running MX51s, but chew through a rear tire about every 2.5-3 months. I pay very close attention to my tire wear. My newest scoot has a MotoZ Tractionator on the rear. With half a dozen rides under my belt...It's wearing like iron, and hooks up great(even on wet rocks & roots). If it continues to grab and wear well, then I'll own another one.

I've been running a MX31 front and MX51 rear. The front tears side knobs if you push too hard on hardpack. Thats expected of a soft terrain tyre. The back is only really good for somewhere between 700-1000kms at most. Hooks up well and responds to lower pressures as well as any other. Very predictable in all conditions. Next dry season I'll probably run a 51 front as well. I tried the MX31 rear but any sign of rocks and it starts spitting full knobs.

I have been running the exact combo and have nearly the same results. I like the 51 front when things start drying up. It lasts forever but seems to lose grip once the corners wear off on the knobs.

I go through a lot of tires. I think for 9 races this year, I bought 8 sets of tires.

I also really like the metzler six days tire that came stock. Especially for on and off road play/trail riding. I run nuetech tubliss and run like 8PSI rear and 9-10 front and the wear like iron and grip surprisingly well.

MotoZ Tractionator IT's are my new favorites. Great traction and super long wear.
