Gear lever return spring issue

I did a search on the forums but couldn't find mention of the same problem i had.
Was on a ride (Tussock Buster in NZ for those that know it) and bike going good in slippery conditions, when all of a sudden i could not down shift from 4th gear, gear lever now had way more play up and down , real pain in let me tell you when you got 25kms to go to get back to the carpark, clutch got a workout!
I pulled clutch right hand cover off and found the gear lever return spring was kind of half off. As you can see from the pic, the spring has moved slightly off the locating posts (or whatever they are called) and when i pushed it back on fully, the gear lever functioned perfectly.
Has anyone heard off this problem before?
Bike is a 2015 200ec with under 30hrs.
The photo has rotated to the left for some reason, tip your head to the left and it will make sense!
