2013 subframe

I was at a local gasgas dealership and noticed that all the 2013 300's had an offset or crooked fender/subframe in relation to the bikes center line. They ranged from half an inch to two inches to the left. Am I the only person who has seen this? Are they adjustable?

It's not just you, but it seems to make no difference to how they ride. Gas it and go!

Not kidding. There was some discussion that the subframes got pulled to the side and took a set because the factory uses the exhaust can to cinch down the back end in the crate.

My guess is that besides that there is some unaccounted for tolerance stack-up that makes one side of the subframe longer than the other. I wonder if the 2013 "Racing" subframe with the alloy top spars is the same.

Not very satisfying to a QC engineer, but if its any consolation it doesn't affect how the bikes perform and a quick survey of bikes of other brands suggest that very few of them are perfectly straight either.

Up to two inches? That's annoying to the eye if nothing else.

when I read this I ran and checked my bike and it is straight. must have gotten lucky. Also I have never heard of them being crooked. My dealer had another 300 and a 200 and I didnt notice it on those bikes either. but I was not looking for it so maybe I missed it.

If I paid 7 something for a new bike with acosseyed subframe......there would be issues!

I'm sure this will be taken care of. If it was a KTM you would be stuck, ask me how I know.

These are all molded polymer and steel / alloy reinforcements. They should be straight as components. I had my '12 completely apart and resealed the air box, blocked openings, etc. and I don't see a way for mfg. tolerances in the polymer to cause this, they are molded. If there is enough flex in the polymer parts, perhaps the alloy brace was bent. Also, maybe the exhaust fit is poor and puts pressure on the subframe. It wouldn't be the first time an FMF product fit like crap. I think the polymer compound was changed for '13 so perhaps its more flexible to avoid breaking. It should be easy to identify by taking the tail apart piece by piece.

In any case, really DUMB idea tying the bike down in the crate by the can. They need to rethink their packaging. Ever uncrate a Husky? You could ship it upside down without issues.

Trucking co delivered a KTM 65 one time upside down. It wasnt real pretty as the 65's are just rolled into the box.

We have had 7 of them here and haven't had a one that was off.
