Bike year & model = 2011 EC300E fitted with 36mm x 39mm oval bore modified Keihin PWK ASII carb and reed block spacer and fitted with modified head (squish - 1.28mm, compression ratio - 12.7:1)
Temperature (degC) = 20-25 degC,
65% - 80% humidity
Elevation (feet) = 1000f, or 100 - 300m.
Main jet = 180
Pilot jet = 42
Needle & notch =N3CH #3
Air screw setting = 1 turn out
Throttle valve/slide = 6.5 notched

Results:
Great torquey power which will happily lug just at idle all day and then respond crisply when required. Nice meaty (read fun) hit of mid-range power which builds and explodes into a screaming top end. With the 180 main and needle in clip 3 it was slightly rich throughout the needle/main jet circuits so smoothed the hit somewhat. This came at the expense of fuel economy: 5.2l fuel used for 35k's = 14.8l per 100k's.
I swapped to a 178 main and needle in clip 2. The awesome torque is still there but it now has a ridiculous hit into the mid and top end. Its fun and would be a good MX setup, but it is really hard work through tight trails. Better fuel economy but still not as good as I'd hoped. Used 2.9l for 23k's = 12.6l per 100k's.

I think I'll move up to a W diameter needle, the modded carb seems to like a leaner diameter compared to the std 36mm.

No engine mods, AS 1 Carb. This setting works very well for me fine tune with air screw for best off idle power.

Temperature (degC) = 15-20 degC,
55% - 75% humidity
Elevation (feet) = 3000f, or 1100m.
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet = 45
Needle & notch =JD Red #2
Air screw setting = 1.5 turns out
Throttle valve/slide = 6.5 notched

Results:
Great torquey power which will happily lug just at idle all day and then respond crisply when required. Nice meaty hit of mid-range power which builds and revs nicely into a smooth top end. This needle is a good single track needle as it is really smooth throughout the range with no abrupt buildups of power. Fun can be had at the flick of the clutch however.
Used 5l for 50k's = 10l per 100k's.

Bike year & model = 2005 250 EC
Temperature (degF) = 5-25 'C
Elevation (feet) = sealevel + 1000ft
Main jet = 180
Pilot jet = 42
Needle & notch = DDK - 3.
Air screw setting = 2.25
Throttle valve/slide = stock #7

Way way way better than std NE1f, Crisp and strong throughout. Fuel economy is excellent - way better than it was. A really good and cheap improvement (about ?6 + postage for the needle)
(Tried a 45 pilot but light throttle got sputtery and air screw was fully out - the 42 improved it.)

Was given and have just fitted a JD Blue ready to try next time out.....Thanks again go to Todd for this

Great torquey power which will happily lug just at idle all day and then respond crisply when required. Nice meaty hit of mid-range power which builds and revs nicely into a smooth top end. The transition into the mid-range is pretty abrupt and can make technical trails and hills interesting. This jetting was rich throughout the circuits once the needle got on the taper and it showed in the fuel economy.
Used 9.3l for 63k's =
