Default New Gas Gas rider

Hi all! New to the community, and discovering almost by accident what a treasure a Gas Gas is.

I've been going out riding with a buddy of mine, he had a bike and a quad and I didn't. I discovered that I really enjoyed this, enough to decide to get a bike of my own. A craigslist ad led me to discover Gas Gas, a 2005 MC250 that had never been sold or registered, or even ridden more than around a parking lot.

Now I'm the proud owner of a bike that seems to be more amazing the more I learn about it. I'll be around here, occasionally seeking advice, and I think the honeymoon will be a delightful one.

Wow, where did you find that? Here in the US of A? What year is the bike also and jeez those big forks are sweet. Excellent score!!

FWI...I have a brand new E-line carbon fiber pipe guard that will probably fit that pipe. $75 and it's yours. PM me if interested.

It came from a little bike shop in Adelanto, CA. The owner had picked up five of them from a Gas Gas dealership that went out of business. Four ended up being sold to his family members, and I got the last for $2500 plus tax and DMV fees.

It's a 2005.

That guy is working on becoming a Gas Gas dealer, so I'll have a third dealer in fairly easy range for me. . He loves Gas Gas, it's what he rides with his family.

Okay, so the question of spark arrestors has been put in my sights, so:

What, if any, OEM spark arrestor options exist for this bike with the stock factory silencer?

What options exist in the aftermarket that may work with the factory silencer?

Or, am I simply left with the FMF TurbineCore 2 option?

Also, what IS the factory exhaust setup on here? Who makes the stuff that's on my bike, 100% stock?

I'm not sure what is stock, but both my 01 XC250 and 03 DE300 have the FMF TurbineCore 2 and both silencer's are stamped that they have Spark Arrestor's and USFS approved.

Has anybody used a Cobra Sparky? I took a measurement of the outside of the pipe, caliper said it's 2.75 inches. The closest Cobra Sparky is 2 7/8". Will it clamp down on my pipe?
