Default Price check

What do you think an almost new GG 2011 250f is worth. All stock, no scrapes. Side covers are unscratched.

I don't want to overpay, but don't want to miss it.

Always a hard question - when negotiating - I don't get emotional when the seller says it is worth a dollar figure that is too high for me - I just say that something is worth what someone is will to pay. And this is what I am willing to pay you today. It is up to the seller whether he wants to sell it to me for my price.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that it is similar to and has a higher retail price than the yamaha wr250f. You can use NADA book to get a ballpark. www.nadaguides.com and then judge the relative value of the gasgas 250f...

Here is book for a 2011 yamaha wr250f...

http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycle...A-249cc/Values

NADA also lists some years of gasgas - but not all - the bike sells new for about the same as a two stroke model. You could also get an idea of value relative to a two stroke model.

Given it's "like new" condition - hard to judge based on an "average retail" number - but at least you have a number to start with.

When buying used I always think of what my best friend Les Tinius @ LT-Racing (suspension) told me one time - "Jeff - remember when looking at a used bike - you are buying the unused portion..."

Great advice from Jeff.

From what I see, a lot of people are dreaming in what they consider something is worth. Even if its as new, if its 3-4 years old thats depreciation, ridden or not. If parts have been replaced/upgraded they sweeten the deal but don't neccessarily add 'value'.

I'd look at my own budget, set a price that I think is fair (lots of people are dreaming with what they think is fair too!), and then negotiate from there. I'm not really one to haggle over a few hundred dollars, however its not a bad idea to go over the bike and use what you identify as worn/needing replacement to bring their price down/justify what you think is fair.

End of the day if you have the money, and they want the sale, things will swing in your favour.

The guy wants 5100 and he knows he is not going to get that. I seen them new in 2012 for 5995. I bought my 2011 250f for 4600 over a year ago, albeit in nowhere near as good of shape but had some after market prices.

I was at 4000 but would prolly stretch to 4300. Just seeing if I was in the ball park.

Thanks guys

The real appeal is that I have a GG250f and a GG300 so all parts interchange. I also have 2 YZ250f's so the engine parts all interchange with the GG250f since it is an 06 WR250f. Now I just have to convince the wife that we NEED it.

The 250f is her bike so it is either best of both and make the other a dual sport for son to ride to High School, or I could say we are going to resell it.

I don't think that will be the hold up. I could be being optimistic too

there is a formula for how many bikes you need... it is n + 1 where as n is the number you have now..

does not work for me, but....
