Computer problem with Google Search
Any computer wizzes here to help me out????
Weird problem and can't get rid of it despite using 2 different anti spy ware/malware removers and virus protection/removers So I go to do a Google search of something I want and as usual the whole list of possibilities comes up (this is normal) Now I click on a choice that looks good which should bring me to that web page (like when my Google was working ok) but now it always brings up some random add or bizarre web site (no porn thank god) which often times I can't back out of unless I exit out of IE completely or click the back arrow repeatedly and sometimes it will release and go back to Google or further back even to previous pages. I have found a silly way around this by first clicking on my choice of a site I want to see and then I have to click the red stop X box in the top tool bar BEFORE the add page can load and pop up, then I click the back arrow on the toolbar to go back to the Google search page and then click on my choice once again and repeat this crazy stop, back, search process 2 times and on the 3rd try the proper page will finally load. This stupid 3 step process will almost always bring up the proper page I'm looking for but I shouldn't have to do that in the first place. .......how can I fix this it's driving me nuts????

I ran into this kind of problem a couple of months ago. The b@5turds that write this type of malware love to high jack you computer and hold it hostage until you pay for their removal software.
What ever you do don't give out any credit card numbers. Luckily the problem was with my laptop so I was able to physically take the laptop to alongside my desk computer where I used it to do my searching via Google to find a remedy. Once I found the fix I followed the directions and had the problem fixed in about 90 minutes. If you don't hace access to another computer the key is probably going to be to start the infected computer in "safemode." During computer start up you have an opportunty to start in "safemode" so watch the monitor during this time for those instructions. Good luck

if you cant get it to open in safe mode, i.e. you werent fast enough to press the button, hard start your computer,(shut it off the hard way, if you have a desktop, unplug it while its running.) it will give you the option of starting in safe mode when you restart it. thats also a convienient way to get into an administrator account in school, but i wouldnt know anything about that. computer classes can get so boring sometimes.

You're probably correct on killing all power to the computer by either unplugging it, if its a desktop, or pulling the battery, if its a laptop, when its running.

Download firefox.
Nobody should use IE, it just sucks. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

firefox or google chrome. i like google chrome, its fast to load. and i learned that trick from a computer genius friend of mine. he put halo on the schools computers and played it during study hall and during CAD when he wasn't working. teachers never even caught him. just kill the power, or even on the desktop just hold the power button in, that usually does it, depending on the brand. and dont use Norton antivirus, it is just a virus itself and doesnt work. Mcafee works well, there are also alot of free programs that you can download offline that work very well. but ya IE sucks. theres not even a nicer way to say it.

It's a laptop BTW
Other than this problem the system is working pretty much just fine despite a bunch of power outages over the winter months. My background is in computer and laser printer hardware (network, apps, and OS stuff drives me crazy) but this one is pissing me off There is no reason to have to pay for any of these fancy programs like Norton, Macafee etc. Plenty of excellent freeware out there and I usually get it from the C-Net web site as I know it's safe and tested by tons of users. Keep the ideas coming and the winner gets some free beer money

Install malwarebytes free version and run it. It works great for getting rid of the nasties.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ And like said above DO NOT USE IE. Get Firefox or Chrome.

Buy an external harddrive and backup everything! The malware works as well though nothing is foolproof, hence the backup.

One of the programs I use is the free Malwarebytes from the C-Net site (and another as well). Took care of plenty of stuff but not this. I've cleaned, history, all temp and internet files, all cookies (reset all passwords again) but still the same result. I have Firefox also but I'm stubborn and want to fix this so I know the next time it comes up for me or someone else what fixes it.
