Default Swingarm bolt

Hi all.

Trying to remove the swingarm bolt on my '04 EC300. It won't move. According to the parts diagrams, the head of the swingarm bolt has a side missing. At the risk of looking like a clown when someone points out something obvious I've missed... it looks like mine doesn't have the edge missing! I can't see how the bolt can be removed.

Is the bolt not moving because it's seized in there, or does my swingarm bolt look different to everyone else's? Help!

Thanks,
Bruce.

That's what they all look like. Keep at it and do a search here. There's lots of tips for getting it out.

Your axle looks standard, it is pretty normal to be seized, do some search, i.e.

Loose all linkage and sock, and get a bigger hammer

have fun,

j.

Thanks guys.

Now that we've established it looks normal, I'll go with some of the normal removal tips. I do think a bigger hammer might be in order though.

I've heard that loosening the motor mount sometimes helps too.

Just support the frame on the other side if your forced to go to that extreme!

Of course!!! The frame was resting on some serious wood parts.

This was my last attempt before using an hydraulic press.

After the usual light hammer, I loose all the linkage, shock, etc... and tried a much nicer method using a DIY extractor.

8mm tap on the left hand side.

DIY puller

But I didn't suceed with it either, then I went the "bigger hammer" approach.

have fun,

j.
