Default 02 EC250 speedo

I have a slight problem with the speedo on a bike I bought recently. It as the small round 2 button clock but there doesn't seem to be an actual speedo cable running to the front wheel.

Can anyone tell me which parts are missing as I can't see where a cable would plug into on the front wheel.

The speedo only ever reads 0kmh or On.

Viv

I am not familiar with the speedo you are describing. Is it a GG part? Look on the GG company website for the parts manual if it is a GG part.

Post some pictures and that may help us answer your question.

Thanks - I can't see an manual on the GG site for that year but there is one here:

http://www.smackovermotorsports.com/...ec2002_man.pdf

The clock is shown on page 237 - as written on the manual pages themselves.

This upload might work...

Hmmm, a bit small but you should get the idea.

It should apparently show the instantaneous speed without me having to set it up at start up.

I have the same speedo but it built into the headlight on my 97 Siz Days 250.
So it is a GasGas part but I do not really know too much about the parts needs to make it work. Although mine was routed to the rear wheel instead of the front so you might want to see if there is a sensor built into your rear hub. You should be able to go with the newer gasgas speedo setup since your on a 02'. Good luck with it.

Thanks - I was looking at the front wheel for the sensor but I'll check the rear.

I believe that I am having the same problem.
I am trying to install a 2003 speedo into my
EC300 with 2002 wiring harness.
The sensor from the rear wheel has three wires
leading up to the steering head. One red, white
and blue wire. This connector fits the connector
for the old style round gage, but the new gage
has only two wires. Both black.
See the pictures below.
The first is of both speedos that I am trying to swap.

The second picture shows the three wire connector next to the
2 black wires.

The third is a little wider angel of the second.

I have tried pluging in the two black wires in all the possible combinations
I can think of with out success.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Why the old style uses three wires?
Is one of them supposed to supply 12V to the sensor at the rear wheel?
One thing I did not mention. I purchased the harness from another member and
have not tried to hook up the old style speedo to see if "IT" works or not.
So maybe my problem is with the sensor.
Is there a test with an ohm meter to check the output of the sensor with
the wheel turning?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Jeff So-Cal.
