Default CloudCroft, New Mexico - epic mountain riding

Here is a compilation video of some riding in Cloudcroft, NM.
Riding is from 7500 to 10000 feet elevation. Fantastic trail system, lots
of very technical single track with nasty roots and all the rocks you can handle.

Highly recommend this spot - it's the best/closest mountain riding to Austin, Texas for sure.

I was concerned that they had closed most of the viable trail in NM due to the bogus "Travel Management Plan". Glad to hear that is not the case. Are there decent trail maps for the area available?

That is so cool to see. I grew up in Alamogordo (just down the hill from Cloudcroft on the west side of the Sacramentos), riding in the desert. Spent lots of time in/around Cloudcroft, hiking, dual sport riding, and camping...I had no idea there was singletrack up there. Often wondered about moving back to the area but I always thought I would miss the mountain riding here in Colorado.

Does NM have an OHV permit requirement?

Great video Slade.
I like the chest mount view better than the helmet mounted view.

Hey Girard - that is Jason in front of me...we should plan another trip out there sometime.

Trail maps are very good and nicely marked with Forest Service carved signs.

Thumper, we came around a bend at one point and there was an amazing view out over Almagordo and at first what I thought was a lake. After some staring we figured out it was the White Sands desert. New Mexico does require an OHV sticker, but you can buy a 90-day permit for 18 dollars online - very reasonable.

Nice man - looks like an outstanding area to ride

Know the "pain" of needing to go back to the bottom a bunch of times before being able to clear something like that rock shelf all too well, at least you didn't have to pick up your bike a dozen times...lol.

The tighter stuff as you're winding through the trees reminds me of riding at Gifford - amazing single track that you'd like to go on for miles and miles.

Great vid - thanks for sharing
