Throttle valve/slide =Standard(I didn't look )

When I got the bike new it had an N1ef needle in it and the sucker was very fat on the last 1/4 of throttle when rolled on from from low speed in top gear.

I've since changed to NECW and left the jetting the same, went out today and down low the bike feels substantially "crisper/responsive"

Not near as bad as before, when you roll it on in top gear at a slow speed you get to that last 1/8th throttle and it lays over(fat).

It feels bad enough that I don't feel that dropping the needle one groove will have enough impact, I am steering toward going with a 172.5 main and leaving the needle where it is.

Thoughts?
I have almost the same set up on my EC300/19. Just that I use a 178 main jet with JD's red needle. As I have bought an NECW needle because I was told it feels as crisp down low as the JD I would like to know what you think about that needle from mid to top?
I never tried it as I was happy with the JD needle but I would like a more linear power curve with less hit...

I'm going to change out to a 172 main to see if that cleans up the top end, if it leans too much I'll put the 175 back in and just drop the needle a notch and see what happens. I'll let you know.

I'm currently running the following in my 2007 EC200:

Bike year & model = 2007 EC200
Temperature (degF) = 50-86
Elevation (feet) = 1300-2000
Main jet = 178
Pilot jet = 48
Needle & notch = NDHW Clip 2
Air screw setting = 1.25
Throttle valve/slide = 6

Haven't tested it yet but the 50 pilot that was in it was too rich.

That would be great. Thank you!

The needle position won't matter when you are at Wide Open Throttle. That's strictly main jet territory; well, that and air flow through the filter.

Good luck and let us know how it goes with the smaller main jet.

Jim, I have no doubt that you are correct

However, when I changed from the N1EF to the NECW there was definitely a noticeable difference at wide open between the two(the NECW was much better).

I do hope to get out this weekend to see how the 172 main performs

Went out again today for 4 1/2 hours/120km with the 172main jet, it's still blubbery when you roll on to wot but overall feels better

Man I love this machine, I've only been out on it 3 times and I'm getting the vibe that the bike knows me better than I know myself...it's very forgiving

I haven't pulled the plug yet(it didn't foul a plug today), but I'll pull it tomorrow and if it's black I'll most probably go with a 170 main and try again.

Pulled plug and it's still darker than I'd like........going down to a 170.

If it is blubbery as you transition to upper revs from down low, I'd try moving the clip one groove higher, before going to a 170 main jet; just to make sure what's going on.
One more thing.... If your exhaust packing is already full of spooge, it can affect your jetting results.

It's only "blubbery" at wot, not before, getting there is great

I would hope the packing isn't soaked in spooge as I've only been out 3 times
