4 of the 6 05 FSE450's i sold were missing the dipstick. They were replaced by GG and i never looked to see if it fell off. Never had one fall off and all the bikes have held up well so i wouldnt worry if its in there. The dipstick is actually a section of speedometer cable, with the square end in the oil. I dont even bother to look at mine as i change the oil often and just pour in the correct amount.

Thumbs up no dipstick on '05fse450

I used a long stout wire to probe from the top and couldn't feel anything down there. I then drained the oil and removed the oil hose and couldn't find anything at the bottom either.
I'm satisfied. An oil cap with dipstick is on the way to my house.
I liked that four fingered snapon tool that Matt R showed me. That will come in handy someday. Also I will be looking for a better magnet with a longer, flexible shaft. Thanks for all the input. Bob

This looks like a cool magnet pickup tool. Similar to the claw-style, but the magnet is retracted. Then, with a push of the button, the magnet reaches out and grabs the object. Great idea so it will not to get stuck on mating metal surfaces while trying to grab something. I think this tool will find it's home someday in my garage.

Thanks again Matt. This one was well thought out. I think every tool box could find room for one of these.

Default 05 450 fse oil in airbox

3 of my freinds and I bought 05 450's and 3 of us ride them very hard.Does anyone else have the problem of oil in the airbox, comeing from overflow. Even if I'm low on oil it still overflows thru the tube that ends up in the airbox? my compression check is good. I don't think my rings are bad??? Tom

The only time oil came through the airbox is when it was overfilled.

Question Dip stick 450fse

I have just brought a 06 450fse an that does not have a dip stick like other models it sure is a strange idea an a good way to over fill if engine tends to burn a bit of oil when it gets older.

They take along time for the rings to seat. After awhile it will quit oiling the airbox.

Default 450 fse oil overflow

my 450 has about 3000 miles on it and leaks oil into air box, as allways did, my freinds have about 500 miles and 1500 miles on their 450's and theirs leak the same. I just got a new radiater and my bike is running again. I am going to change my oil and filter and put 3/4 qt. in it and see how much it will leak.
