Default Clutch locked up?

I was riding and my clutch lever suddenly felt super stiff to the point that the lever would not move. I removed the slave cylinder, and everything seems to be working that far down.

I reinstalled the slave, and moved to the other side. I took the clutch components out one at a time and kept checking to see if the lever ever started working again but it did not. All of the actual clutch components are outt, so I basically just have the shaft that comes through and connects to the transmission on the other side. When I try squeezing the lever, it still feels super stiff but nothing moves over here. Where to next?

I'm guessing there is something jamming up the little piston that is supposed to spread the plates or something.

Can you remove the shaft that is pushed by the slave?

Ok, so I think I have solved things, and figured it would be good internet etiquette to respond to all this here in case someone else has a similar issue and finds this thread via google or something.

I took the slave off again, and yes the shaft was free to move inside. I think the issue was with the slave cylinder afterall. It was more or less at its maximum extension. I pushed the piston back in and out a few times and realized it had been at max extension earlier. While I was working on something else, the slave piston ended up pushing itself all the way out so I needed to re-bleed the whole system, but we're in good shape now.
