Default Noisy transmission 07 fsr 450

I just bought a leftover 07 fsr450 with no kms on it and it is very noisy when I let out the clutch, almost sounds like a bad bearing or something, does it in neutral or in gear, moving or stationary. Is this a normal sound for these bikes? My dealer is 3hrs away so I don't want to take it in if its just the nature of the beast. Also I've been reading that these bikes are equipped with a slipper clutch. I'm used to 2strokes and never had a big 4stroke before but it would seem to me that there is zero slip when I back off the fuel, it will almost pitch you over the bars if you are not expecting it. Does anyone else have similar problems?

sounds like it needs some exploratory work,, have you pulled the clutch cover & clutch apart yet?? I'd get that apart to check,, I dont think it should be noisey..

Normal. My bike does it when it's in neutral and you let out the clutch..
I have thousands of km's on mine and no problems... I was worried as well when it started to do it, so I took it to my dealer.. They said normal

Yep they rattle pretty good especially when the clutch is released. It gets even louder when you fit a proper aluminium sump guard instead of the piece of tupperware it comes with! If it has a slipper clutch the pull will feel like its broken. Very little resistance on the lever. The other way to tell ( not recommended) is to throw it into a tight corner and bang it down 3 or 4 gears and let the clutch out. If its a slipper you will most likely make it without the rear locking up!

well thanks for the replies, I hope it is a normal sound, I didn't want to have to start tearing into my new engine. It must not be a slipper cause if i let the clutch out in third without revving it to match, it will lock up solid.

There was updated side case for 07 because they had oil passage that wasnt supposed to be there also. Will cause low oil pressure at idle but most likely will cause no harm as mine had afew thousand miles on it before i replaced it. It might make it a bit quieter.

There was a recall on the side cover.. It was mainly the seal causing the problem.. Rectified and no longer an issue
