Ok, just back from another ride today. Chased my tail on the PJ. I had a strange high idle in neutral once warmed up, I used the airscrew to knock the rpm down to a more reasonable level. Once this was done the bike had no lug or guts down low. I'm guessing I need to move up to a 42PJ to cure this.
Let me know your thoughts.

How cold is it Gez.. A half clip richer on the needle could help too.

15 degrees down here.
I've got 3 days of sand riding up in the desert next weekend. I'm thinking the extra fuel couldn't hurt

Just wanted to add to the database. Found a lot of things up on my bike that could have made my jetting the way it was. When I received the bike the jetting was 175 45 CEK 2nd clip. Wasn’t running quite right. Checked the reeds and one had a crack, and also they PO installed the cage in offset so 1/3 of the intake was blocked. Once fixed I couldn’t even get the bike to start. Kept the 175 main swapped to a 42 and NEDJ 3rd clip. Bike started after multiple attempts. Ran it down the road and it crackled and sputtered everywhere, main running lean.
As it sits
Sea level
70F
NEDJ 2nd clip
175 main
42 pilot
AS 2.5 turns out

I just purchased a 180 main, and a 40 pilot. Going to install those and see how she runs and adjust the clip accordingly

If it's a 2011 with the ASII carb with the flat cap mounted by 2 M5 bolts (not the round screw on carb cap), then the float level should be 6.5-7mm

The 16mm height is from the older carbs that had deeper bowls. See the sticky in this section.

2 degrees this morning. Warmed up to 13 degrees.

42 PJ
175 Main
AS 2.0 out

Big change from 42PJ 1.5 turns out. Snappy, idles like a dream even from cold. Even didn't spooge much, mostly tech single and 2 track.Happy for this to be my winter go to now. I'll just change to a 40PJ in summer if needed.
