Default Won't start in gear

My 300EC won't kickstart when in gear. Is this normal? Do we know if they have some sort of cut out mechanism to prevent this? And if so can it be bypassed? Thanks.

Probably find its a bit of clutch drag, what age bike? Dunno if the electric starts have a clutch switch that might be faulty?

Mine doesn't like to start when in gear, certainly 1st or 2nd. If you are rolling it will start but that's obviously not always an option. I put it down to clutch drag.

I don't think any of my dirt bikes, starting with my old yz80 when I was a kid, didn't like to start in gear. It's just drag on the clutch.

Thanks, I'll see if anything can be done to fine tune the clutch 👍

Look for a grooved clutch basket. This will not allow the plates to separate.

As above.

You can also try pulling the clutch in and giving the bike a rock back and forwarth to free the plates up before putting your boot into it.

No issues here with starting in any gear, once up to running temps.

Yep-

Mine doesn't like to start in gear when cold. After it's warmed up, no issues.
