could be too heavy oil, worn basket/hub or stuck plates/bleed slave

i use maxima mtl xl 75 fluid and dragging is not a problem. when i used klotz flexdrive 30 it would drag. i don't know if the xl75 is too light for the 300's. but it only costs $10 and 5 minutes to find out..

the other possible solution is to let bike warm up before you pop it into gear...

Bleed the system, and verify that there are no leaks in the master or slave that would prevent full slave travel. Switch to Shell Rotella 5W-40W syn diesel oil, works great at less than half the price of MC gear oils. If problem persists pull the clutch and examine the basket for wear. Since its primarily a cold start problem, I'll bet the oil will solve it, although any wet clutch bike will drag slightly when cold.

i too am having problems like this, except it gets worse as the bike warms up. i switched to amsoil 0w-40, and it helped a little, but not much. im thinkin a warped plate, but i have not had the time or the courage to dig into it.

warped plate will definitely cause drag when it heats up. tear it apart and take a look - it only takes a few minutes..
