are you using the red oil or the green oil? My bike seemed to run too rich on the green stuff, so I'm back on the red. Maybe putting too much green stuff on? Any opinions out there?

I would not rotate the filter while cleaning.
The water will have dirt suspended in it that gets introduced to the clean side of the filter. |

I'm using the red oil. I haven't tried the green, but I heard it is water soluble and easier to clean? I'm not sure how much easier one would need?

I normally clean it first with no-toil cleaner and then clean it again in fresh water withe a less soap before rinsing .
Also advisable not to use warm/hot water as i think the filter glue is heat glue and i have had a filter disintegrate into its various panels when i thought i was being tough with hot water

PS love the no-toil oil as well, although there is a video on youtube showing that water passes through the notoil oiled filter much easier than with normal filter oil, i guess this would only apply to pushing a dead bike through a deep river, with the engine running both will suck the water through
And to appease the bunnyhuggers it may be wise to mention that it is biodegradable so there is no problem with pulling the plug and letting it all flow down the drain

Clothes washing machine with OxiClean (for red NoToil) gets them looking like new.

I would not really call this a relevant test but it does demonstrate some of the properties
